Do You Use Cuss Words, or Prefer More Elegant Equivalents?
After a week like this (and it's been a clusterbuck for me, folks; a real son-of-a-peach), it's time to either laugh hysterically or bring out your choicest curse words, though highly colorful invective can be even more satisfying than bluntly crude profanity. Was it only early last August when I referred to "the noise and bluster of the howling bellowing Republican reality-show emboldened mob"? Turns out they were just getting warmed up!
In my family we weren't allowed to swear (the one time Mom said a heartfelt "Damn!" over a flat tire was astonishing), nor were we allowed to say "shut-up" to each other, which was considered far worse.
Which freaking curse words are most popular in your home state?
Foreign cuss words:
At last, someone has bloody hell explained British swear words for us. IMHO, German is the best language was for invective (and hopefully one of our native speakers here will reel a couple off for us), but there are resources for swearing in any language. Marbhfháisc ort, anyone?
I really am hoping glescagal reels off a few memorable phrases for us. I'll elevate them to the body of this diary if she does.
Feel free to turn a phrase or rip out a rant if you're so inclined. Because oy, what a week I've had.
