The orange pinpoints are the location of each organized group of Daily Kos readers. If you'd like to join a group, click on a point and a box will pop up showing contact links. If you'd like to start a group, contact navajo for instructions.

A daily series, Connect! Unite! Act! seeks to create face-to-face networks in each congressional district. Groups regularly socialize but also get out the vote, support candidates and engage in other local political actions that help our progressive movement grow and exert influence on the powers-that-be. Visit us at Daily Kos every morning at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time to see how you can get involved. The comment thread is fun and light-hearted, but we're serious about moving the progressive political agenda forward.

How has your “little town” changed?

How much of your home town would you recognize now?

 Itchin’ like a finger

on the trigger of a gun...

Nothing but the dead and dying back in my little town

SB mtns from downtown
We’d drive up to Big Bear Lake for swimming in the summer and skiing in the winter
The Arrowhead, San Bernardino Mountains
The Arrowhead, a natural landmark pointing downwards to the hot springs we hiked into, made for a visible navigation aid from all over town.
Hist13_McDonaldBrotherRestaurant-large
The first ever McDonald’s on E Street, where people “cruised” up and down on Friday nights
Orange Show 1918
Long after the miles and miles of orange groves were gone, the annual Orange Show remained a treat.
arrowhead water_train_mtn_view_ave_1949
My earliest memory is standing up in my crib and seeing this train from the upstairs bedroom. The train brought water down from Arrowhead Springs to the bottling plant in town.
San Bernardino brush fire
Every fall the Santa Ana winds would bring fires to the foothills.
San Bernardino Norton AFB
After the air force base closed down in 1994 the local economy went into a tailspin.
San Bernardino eventuallyfiled for bankruptcy in 2012, with over $1 billion in debts.
San  Bernardino shooting triage
Victims of the largest mass shooting since Sandy Hook are triaged in the middle of the street.
If you know where to look you can see the Arrowhead on the mountains.
This is near the old Norton Air Force Base, just off of Orange Show Road.

Sorry, I’m still a little shaken by the recent events in my hometown.

More songs about San Bernardino in the comments.

As always, this is an open thread.
