A daily series, Connect! Unite! Act! seeks to create face-to-face networks in each congressional district. Groups regularly socialize but also get out the vote, support candidates and engage in other local political actions that help our progressive movement grow and exert influence on the powers-that-be. Visit us every morning at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time to see how you can get involved. The comment thread is fun and light-hearted, but we're serious about moving the progressive political agenda forward.

The orange pinpoints are the location of each organized group of Kossacks.

Do you wear any jewelry?
Do you have any old pieces with a story?

I loved cheap costume jewelry when I was young and still have an old wooden jewelry box full of hoop earrings and chokers and beaded necklaces. A few years I let some little neighborhood girls help themselves to my little 70's museum in a box, so some of the more memorable pieces are gone.

Do you have any old rings, watches or jewelry you've held onto, for sentimental or other reasons? Do you have any heirloom pieces that have been handed down from parents or grandparents? I don't wear much jewelry now, other than a blue sapphire wedding ring (never have cared for diamonds) and simple necklaces. I no longer wear earrings or other rings or even a watch any more.

Do you remember...

Ankhs? Peace symbols? Puka shell necklaces?
Charm bracelets? Swatches?
Mother's rings? Puzzle rings? Mood rings? High school or college class rings?
Tiny coke spoons worn on a chain around the neck, or other dangle-in-your-chest-hair pieces for men like the Italian horn, shark's tooth, or whale fluke?

Do you wear a wedding ring? Fine jewelry? Costume jewelry? Nose rings?

Here's your chance to talk about all things bling!

turtle necklace displayWhen paradise50 was recovering from his cancer treatments he splurged on some fine art jewelry from Wings for each of us. For himself he bought a feather necklace, and for me a gorgeous turquoise and silver turtle (the metaphor was not lost on me) that I keep hanging on the wall as an art piece when I'm not wearing it. I'll treasure it forever.

BTW, that colorful hand-written sign above the yin/yang fishes on the wall was sent by John's lovely father and reads RESILIENCY.
